Health & Hygiene
During the victorian era it was common for people to have small pox, most of the time more than once. Medical pioneers and health innovations didn't shape until around the 19th century. Middle class men only lived till about 45. But the workmen and labourers barely lived about half of that, their children were lucky to even make it to their 5th birthday sadly. They believed that bad smells in the air would cause diseases, the air would smell so bad around were the lower class lived because of all the deaths. While the black plague was going on they started to wash their hands with warm water, wine, or even vinegar. The Kings and lords bathed more than most. The lower class didn't get to bathe as much but when they did the elderly went first and babies last. A tooth brush wasn't invented until 1857 so before then even royal upper class people had brown teeth.
